About Echo Reverb

What originated from the same event horizon evolved differently through space and time. Echo & Reverb were derived from the same base blend of single-malt whiskies from three different distillery sources. Echo was finished in freshly emptied Wild Turkey bourbon barrels, and Reverb was finished in freshly emptied pinot noir and reclaimed Port barrels. Just like the whisky for Echo Reverb, the artwork was created as a diptych concept — conceived together, beginning as one and splitting into two distinct impressions.

THE WHISKY

Comprised of 100% Malted Barley, the base blend for Echo & Reverb contains single malts from three different sources, distilled in Scotland, Virginia & California. Only 390 bottles of each were produced. It was blended by Joshua Thinnes and further aged and bottled in Ukiah, CA.

The base blend for Echo & Reverb was derived by combining 3 different barrels of Single Malt Whisky. Barrel #2226, a Port cask, and Barrel #3, a Madeira cask, each refilled with a roughly equal mixture of 7-year-old Virginia Distillery Company single malt and 7-year-old single malt from an undisclosed Speyside distillery in Scotland. The third barrel, #381, was an 8-year-old peated single malt distilled at 10th Street Distillery in San Jose, CA.

The resulting combination yielded approximately 120 gallons of single malt in the tank, where it married and rested through the fall of 2025. The blend was then split in half, 50% going into freshly emptied Wild Turkey Bourbon barrels. The other half was split again; half of that went back into Barrel #2226 Port cask, and the other was put into a first-fill Hanzell pinot noir cask. A small amount of water was added to each cask to enhance cask flavors and gradually bring the whisky closer to bottling proof over time. The whiskies were then left to rest in their respective finishing casks for 3 months until the Spring of 2026.

The two bourbon casks were then combined in a tank, cut down to the final bottling proof, and that portion of the blend became Echo. The Port & pinot casks were likewise combined into a tank, and after the final addition of water, Reverb was born.

The decision to bottle around 45-46% a.b.v. - a typical range for Single Malt Scotches - was every bit intentional. It lets the malt do the talking rather than the alcohol without sacrificing any texture or flavor.

TASTING NOTES

ECHO
45.2% ABV / 90.4 Proof | 390 total bottles

Echo was finished in freshly emptied bourbon casks, accentuating the notes of honey and tropical fruit. This clearly defined expression is vast and repetitious, creating a rhythmic effect on the flavor with a rich, round texture. Immediately, you are greeted by a beautifully aromatic nose, bright and juicy fruit flavors, subtle hints of incense, and very light smokiness.

Aroma:  Tropical fruit like lychee, green papaya, and mango are complemented with a rich Manuka honey sweetness, all wrapped up in a baselayer of toasted sandalwood by a glistening beach campfire.

Taste: Ripe sultana, burnt marshmallow, dark honey, lemon zest, and smoke. Rich, chewy, and full of flavor for the lower proof.

REVERB
46% ABV / 92 Proof | 390 total bottles

Reverb was finished in freshly emptied pinot noir and reclaimed Port casks, showcasing dried red fruits and toffee. It is a densely compiled and interwoven reflection of flavors, adding depth, complexity, and atmosphere. The array of fruit is darker and more caramelized than that of its Echo cohort, and the smoke is more integrated into a rich, sweet bouquet.

Aroma:  Toffee, dried strawberries, agave, red currants, tobacco leaf

Taste:  Dried red fruits, caramel peanut brittle, roasted agave, and exotic incense smoke.
